Ways to Help

Donate

Yes, the Co-op is a business, and our goal is to turn a profit so we can reinvest in our store, our workers, and our community. But grocery margins are tight, and in a tiny retail market like ours, every hiccup (broken equipment, power outage, car crashing into the building) has the potential to derail our efforts. Donations help us keep our reserve funds healthy in case of an emergency, and help us plan ahead for larger investments in equipment and renovations.

The Co-op can accept donations in all forms at the register, or you can mail checks made out to the Cambridge Food Co-op to us at 1 W. Main St., Cambridge NY 12816.  We appreciate the support of our members and the community, and we couldn't do what we do without you.

The Co-op is a "not-for-profit" and therefore donations to the Co-op are NOT tax-deductible.

All Co-op current and past financials can be found here.

Join a Committee

Our Co-op is governed by a Board of Directors which meets 6-7 times per year to conduct the business of the Co-op. The Board is supported by a number of committees, and committees are where the real work happens! Committees usually meet monthly or as needed, and help with personnel, finance, membership, events, and governance.

Become a Working Member

We can't run the Co-op without the assistance of our working members! While you don't need to work to be a member of our Co-op, we'd love it if you joined us.

Working members work anywhere from 4 hours/week to 4 hours/month. Working members discounts are dependent on how many hours per month you work--for example, for 4 hours per month, working members receive a 12% discount on all sales.

Help Clear the List

Go shopping on behalf of the Co-op! The Co-op maintains a "wish list" of items that we'd love to have but that are not currently in the budget.

Some items currently on our wish list include small bulk containers to help us transition away from plastic packaging, a microwave for customer use, a small countertop oven so we can expand into baked goods.

Check out our current list here.
